Why does my converted document paginate differently from Word?

Word's layout depends on the fonts installed on the machine that opened it. Where a font is unavailable a metrically similar one is substituted, which can shift line breaks and therefore page breaks.

Are tracked changes and comments included?

Markup is not rendered into the output — the converted file reflects the document as it stands. Accept or reject changes before converting if the revision history needs to be visible.

Is the older .doc format handled the same way?

Both are accepted, but .doc is a much older binary format and complex layouts in it convert less predictably. Re-saving as .docx in Word first gives noticeably better results.
