Archived Projects
Keep finished projects without cluttering your dashboard
Archiving moves a completed project off your active dashboard while keeping every detail intact. It's the tidy-up step for projects you've delivered but want to keep for reference — distinct from deleting, which sends a project to the Trash.
Archiving vs. deleting
Two different ways to get a project off your main dashboard.
- Archive — the project leaves your All Projects dashboard but is fully retained. Use it for delivered jobs you want to keep around.
- Delete (from All Projects) — the project goes to the Trash, where it's recoverable and can later be permanently deleted. Use it for projects you actually want gone.
- Archiving shows an Undo toast, so a mis-click is one click away from reversed.
- Archived projects keep all of their gear, contacts, documents, and history. Nothing is stripped out.
- Both archived and trashed projects sync across your devices.
Tips
- Archive is the right choice at the end of a job: the project is done, but you'll want to reference or duplicate it later.
Finding and restoring archived projects
Archived projects live on their own page, opened from the 'View Archived' link on the All Projects dashboard or the Archive tile on Home.
- Click 'View Archived' on the All Projects dashboard.
- Browse the archived projects — they render the same cards as the main dashboard. A card's '⋯' menu offers Export project, Restore and Delete.
- Click Restore to send a project back to your active All Projects list. Delete, then Confirm?, removes it for good: a project deleted here skips the Trash and has no undo.
Tips
- An archived project cannot be renamed, duplicated or moved from the Archived page. Restore it first, then duplicate it from All Projects if you want to start a new job from an old one.
- To keep a way back, restore an archived project and delete it from All Projects — it then goes to the Trash with an Undo toast.
Archiving and the free-plan limit
An important caveat for free-tier users.
- On the free plan, the active-project limit counts every project that isn't permanently deleted — archived projects included.
- So archiving tidies your dashboard but does not free a project slot. To open a slot you have to delete a project and then permanently delete it from the Trash.
- Pro removes the project limit entirely, so on Pro, archiving is purely an organisational choice.
Common Pitfalls
- Archiving a project to get under the free-plan limit. It won't help — archived projects still count. Only permanent deletion frees a slot.
Archiving is the 'keep but tidy away' option for finished work; deleting (then permanently deleting from the Trash) is the 'truly remove' option — and on the free plan, only the latter frees a project slot.
