Bulk Operations on the Gear List
Multi-select rows and apply changes in one pass
Tick the checkbox on any gear row to select it. Once at least one row is selected, the bulk operations bar reveals its Move / Edit / Assign provider / Delete actions and applies them to every selected row at once via a single project update.
Selecting Rows
There is no bulk-edit mode to switch on. Selection is checkbox-driven: tick any gear row and the bulk operations bar appears on its own.
- Open a project's Gear List tab.
- Tick the checkbox on a gear row to select it; the bulk operations bar appears once the first row is selected.
- Tick more rows to add them to the selection; the count updates in the bar header.
- Shift-click a checkbox to select a range: tick one row, then hold Shift and click another, and every row between the two (in the order shown) is selected at once. The last plain-ticked row stays the anchor, so you can keep extending the range with further Shift-clicks.
- Use 'Select all' to add every row; 'Clear' to wipe the selection.
- Deselect every row (or click 'Clear') to dismiss the bar — the actions hide again when nothing is selected.
Tips
- Selection is project-wide — it spans every category on the gear list.
- Selection is keyed by item id and persists as you switch tabs. An in-place bulk edit — quantity, status, camera, or provider — keeps the selection so you can chain another edit on the same rows; only Clear/Esc, or an action that removes the rows from view (Delete, or any Move — to category, project, department, or temporary gear), clears it.
- There is no bulk-edit mode to toggle, but the gear list does bind keyboard accelerators: Cmd/Ctrl+A selects all, Cmd/Ctrl+C copies, Cmd/Ctrl+V pastes, Esc clears the selection, and Delete/Backspace deletes it. (They stay inactive while you're typing in a field or a dialog is open.)
Available Actions
Each action runs against every currently selected item. The bar groups them into Move, Edit, and Actions.
- Move → Category
- Move the selected items into a target category on the current project.
- Move → Project
- Move the selected items into a category on a different project. Pick both the target project and the target category.
- Move → Department
- Re-assign the active gear department for the selection.
- Move to temp gear / Move to gear list
- Move the selection between the gear list and Temporary Gear. Each row goes into the category of the same name on the other side.
- Edit → Quantity
- Set the same quantity on every selected row in one apply.
- Edit → Camera
- Set the camera assignment on every selected row.
- Edit → Status
- Set each selected row's status to one of Needed, Requested, Approved, Picked up, or Canceled.
- Assign provider
- A separate action (not part of the Edit group): set provider (and the linked rentalHouse field) on every selected row. The Bulk Provider Modal surfaces per-row status.
- Action → Delete
- Remove every selected row from the project. The items remain in your Device Library.
- Action → Batch status
- Open the batch status dialog for a richer per-provider status workflow.
- Set group: put the selected items in a gear-list group, create a new group, or take them out of their group. See Projects → Groups in the gear list.
Tips
- Provider and Rental House update together — changing provider also updates the rentalHouse field on each row.
- The status values are Needed, Requested, Approved, Picked up, and Canceled — the same set the Batch status dialog uses.
Bulk Delete
Removes the selected rows from the active project. The items themselves remain in your Device Library and can be re-added later.
- Select the rows to remove.
- Click 'Delete' in the Actions group.
- Confirm in the dialog that follows — it appears for every bulk delete.
- The rows disappear from the gear list immediately.
Tips
- Device Library entries are not touched by bulk delete — only the project's reference to them goes away.
- Undo is NOT guaranteed for bulk delete — back up first or use the project's version-revert if recovery matters.
- Move to Project is the safer 'park for later' option if you might want the items back.
Mobile Layout
Below the sm breakpoint the bar collapses into a single expandable panel with a chevron.
- Tap the chevron to expand the action groups.
- All actions remain available — they're just stacked vertically instead of grouped horizontally.
- The selection count stays visible in the panel header at all times.
Tips
- The floating-mirror variant (when wrapped in another card) keeps the panel compact via
forceMobileCollapsed. - The selection persists when you switch tabs — and through an in-place bulk edit (quantity, status, camera, provider). Clear it with Clear or Esc, or let a Delete or Move action clear it.
Checkbox selection is the gear list's accelerator. Tick rows, pick an action — there's no mode toggle to switch on, and keyboard shortcuts (Cmd/Ctrl+A/C/V, Esc, Delete) speed things up once the list has focus.
