Subscription & Pricing
Free and Pro plan details
Cine Power Planner has a Free tier with hard caps on four counters (active projects, Power Calculator runs, time-tracking project activations, saved templates) and a Pro subscription that removes those caps and unlocks Accounting, Data Management and a custom PDF accent colour. The project counter applies to active projects (archived and Trash projects still count, only permanent deletion frees a slot), while Power Calculator and time-tracking are lifetime counters that never decrement.
Plan Overview
Free and Pro differ in four usage counters and a few Pro-only features: Accounting, Data Management, and a custom accent colour on your PDFs. Everything else — PDF export, all calculators, cloud sync, collaboration, Shot List, Floorplan — is on both tiers.
- Free tier
- Up to 2 active projects at a time, 5 lifetime Power Calculator runs, 2 lifetime time-tracking project activations, and 1 saved project template. The project counter is on active projects — archived and Trash projects still count; only 'Delete permanently' from the Trash frees a slot. Power Calculator and time-tracking counters never reset, so each run / activation counts permanently. The template counter is the one that does reset: it counts templates you currently hold, so deleting a template frees the slot again.
- Pro subscription
- Removes the four counters and unlocks Accounting, Data Management and the custom PDF accent colour (Settings → Account → Signature & Branding). On Free, PDFs use the standard blue; a colour saved earlier is kept and comes back after upgrading.
- Both tiers include: local-first storage, offline mode, PDF export, the full device library, the camera-package builder, every calculator, real-time collaboration, and cloud sync.
- No credit card is required for Free.
- An account is only required for cloud sync and for upgrading to Pro — Free works fully offline without one.
- The Templates page itself is open on both tiers — you can browse, export, and start new projects from your templates without a subscription. Only saving, duplicating or importing a NEW template consumes the free seat.
Tips
- Use the Free tier to evaluate the app against your real production workflow before paying.
- Pro is the right call once you regularly run more than 2 productions or hit the Power Calculator limit during prep.
- Cancelling Pro never deletes data — you keep access to existing projects, you just can't create new ones beyond the Free cap.
- Without signing in, the Free counters are kept on this device only — nothing about you or your device is sent to our servers. Clearing the site's data resets them; once you sign in, the caps are also checked on your account.
Upgrading to Pro
Upgrade flow runs through Stripe's hosted Checkout page.
- Payment is processed by Stripe — the app never sees or stores your card details.
- Stripe accepts credit and debit cards plus regional payment methods (e.g. SEPA, Apple Pay, Google Pay where available).
- Stripe handles VAT/sales tax based on the billing address you enter.
- Stripe sends a payment-confirmation email with the invoice; Cine Power Planner also sends a subscription-started email.
- Sign in to your Cine Power Planner account (required for Pro).
- Open Settings → Account → Subscription.
- Click 'Upgrade now'. In the Upgrade to Pro dialog, tick the immediate-start box, then choose 'Subscribe monthly – payment required' or 'Subscribe annually – payment required' — the page moves on to Stripe Checkout, where the order is placed. Next to its button, Stripe's page repeats that the subscription has to be paid for, the period, the automatic renewal and how to cancel; business customers can enter a VAT ID there.
- Enter payment details on Stripe's page — card data is never touched by Cine Power Planner.
- Once payment completes, you return to the app, the subscription activates immediately and the Subscription section shows 'Pro subscription active'.
Tips
- Upgrade at any time — existing projects and data are preserved.
- The upgrade prompt also appears in-app when you hit a Free-tier cap.
- After upgrading, double-check Settings → Account → Subscription — it should show 'Pro' with a renewal date.
- Before the subscribe buttons unlock, tick the box asking for the subscription to start immediately. It confirms you know that if you withdraw within 14 days you pay a pro-rata amount for the time already used. Its link opens the withdrawal instructions and the model withdrawal form in the Terms of Service. The App Store rail does not show it.
Common Pitfalls
- Trying to upgrade while signed out — the Subscription section shows 'Sign in to upgrade' instead of Checkout.
- Popup blockers can stop the Stripe Customer Portal (Manage subscription) from opening in its new tab — allow popups for cine-power-planner.com.
- An expired card causes payment to fail mid-flow; update payment method via the Customer Portal.
Managing the Subscription
Plan status, payment methods, and invoices are managed via the Stripe Customer Portal, opened from Settings → Account → Subscription.
- The Subscription section shows your plan status and counter usage.
- The Stripe Customer Portal is hosted by Stripe — it opens outside the app and you'll be signed in via your account email.
- Past invoices download as PDFs from the portal.
- The subscription renews automatically until cancelled.
- Open Settings → Account → Subscription.
- Check the current plan (Free or Pro) and the renewal date.
- Click 'Manage subscription' to open the Stripe Customer Portal in a new tab.
- In the portal: update payment method, view past invoices, switch billing interval, or cancel.
- Back in the app, click 'Refresh status' if the page hasn't picked up your change yet (webhook delivery can lag a few seconds).
Tips
- Click 'Refresh status' after every change in the Stripe portal so the app catches up.
- Download PDF invoices from the portal for your accountant — they're not stored inside the app.
- Payment-method updates take effect immediately without interrupting the subscription.
Cancelling the Subscription
Cancel from Settings, or without signing in on the public 'Cancel contracts here' page. Your data is never deleted by a plan change.
- Without signing in: open 'Cancel contracts here' in the footer of cine-power-planner.com (the page is /kuendigen). Enter your name and the email address of your account and press 'Cancel now'. You get a confirmation of receipt by email at once; if the address belongs to an active subscription, the cancellation takes effect when you press 'Confirm cancellation' in that email.
- Bought in the iOS or macOS app: Apple sold that subscription, so you cancel it in your Apple Account's subscription settings.
- Cancellation takes effect at period end — no immediate loss of access.
- All projects and local data remain intact, including projects created above the Free cap.
- Cloud sync is unaffected. The Accounting and Data Management screens lock again, but their records stay stored and synced, and a full backup still exports them.
- You can re-subscribe later from the same Subscription section to restore Pro.
- Open Settings → Account → Subscription.
- Click 'Cancel subscription' — the Stripe Customer Portal opens straight on its cancel page. ('Manage subscription' opens the full portal.)
- Confirm the cancellation in the portal.
- Pro stays active until the end of the current billing period.
- After that, the account reverts to Free — existing data and projects remain accessible.
Tips
- Existing 'over-limit' projects stay readable on Free — you simply can't create new ones until you upgrade again or use 'Delete permanently' from the Trash on enough projects to bring the active count below 2 (soft-deleting alone — sending to Trash — does not free a slot).
- Export a backup (Settings → Backup & Data → Backup) before any major account change as a safety net.
Withdrawing Within 14 Days
A subscription bought on the website can be withdrawn within 14 days without a reason, on the public 'Withdraw from contract' page. You get your money back within 14 days.
- Refund: if you asked for the subscription to start at once (the checkbox before checkout), you pay only for the days up to your withdrawal; otherwise you get the full amount back.
- The refund is paid by our team to the payment method you used, within 14 days of your withdrawal.
- After the 14 days the email names the date the period ended and a person reviews your withdrawal; you can still cancel at the end of the billing period.
- Bought in the iOS or macOS app: Apple sold that subscription, so you withdraw through Apple (reportaproblem.apple.com).
- All projects and data stay on the account after the subscription ends.
- Open 'Withdraw from contract' in the footer of cine-power-planner.com (the page is /widerrufen), or press 'Withdraw from contract' in Settings → Account → Subscription.
- Enter your name and the email address of your account, then press 'Confirm withdrawal'. Your withdrawal counts from that moment.
- The page shows your declaration with the date and time we received it — print it or save it as a PDF.
- Open the confirmation of receipt we email at once. Inside the 14 days it names your refund and has a 'Stop subscription now' button.
- Press the button: the subscription ends immediately, the account moves to Free and a second email confirms the refund.
Tips
- The email button protects you: someone who knows your address can send the form, but only you can stop the subscription.
- If the button's link has expired, write to support@cine-power-planner.com — your withdrawal is still recorded.
Common Billing Questions
Quick answers to the questions that come up most often.
- What happens to my projects if I cancel?
- All projects remain intact. You retain read/edit access to existing projects, including those created while on Pro — you just can't create new ones beyond the Free cap until you re-subscribe.
- Can I get a refund?
- Within 14 days of buying on the website, yes: withdraw on the public 'Withdraw from contract' page (see 'Withdrawing Within 14 Days') and the refund reaches your payment method within 14 days. After that, a cancellation ends the subscription at the end of the paid period. App Store purchases are refunded through Apple.
- Is my payment information secure?
- Yes. All payments are processed by Stripe. The app never stores or sees your card details.
- Do I need an account for the Free plan?
- No. Free works fully offline without an account. An account is only required for cloud sync and for upgrading to Pro.
- Can I switch between plans?
- Upgrade anytime from Settings → Account → Subscription. Downgrade by cancelling in the Stripe Customer Portal — Pro stays active until the end of the current billing period.
- Which currencies are supported?
- Stripe handles currency based on your billing address and payment method. Invoices show the currency Stripe charged.
Subscription fees keep Cine Power Planner self-funded — no investor pressure, no ads, no data-resale business model. Thanks for supporting development.
