About Background Color
Paints a solid colour behind all page content. Because it is drawn underneath rather than over the top, existing text and graphics stay fully legible — the page simply stops being white.
The colour layer is composited into each page locally; the document is not uploaded.
How to use Background Color
- Load the PDF.
- Pick a colour. Pale tints keep black text readable; saturated colours do not.
- Apply to every page or a selected range.
- Download.

Colour-coding a printed set of documents so the right one can be found on a cluttered table by glance rather than by reading. Blue for the schedule, yellow for safety, pink for revisions — the film industry's revision-colour convention, applied to a PDF that arrived white.
Frequently asked questions
- Will the text still be readable?
- On a pale tint, yes. Anything below roughly 80 percent lightness starts to fight black body text. Preview at 100 percent zoom before committing to a print run.
- Why not just print on coloured paper?
- Do, if you have it — it uses no ink and looks better. This is for when you do not, or when the document is going out as a file and needs to carry its colour with it.
- Does this replace an existing background?
- It is drawn beneath existing content, so a page that already has a coloured block will show that block on top of the new background. Pages that were plain white become the colour you chose.
