Should I resize as well as compress?

Usually yes, and it saves more than quality settings do. An image displayed at 1600 pixels wide gains nothing from being 6000 pixels wide except a much larger file.

Every current browser supports it and it is typically a third smaller than an equivalent JPEG. Keep JPEG only where a specific recipient or older system requires it.

Compress Image reduces the file size of JPEG, PNG and WebP images using quality presets, optional downsampling, and conversion between formats. Batches of up to a hundred images are processed together, with the size saved reported per file.

Images are re-encoded through the browser's own canvas and codecs. Nothing is uploaded, and the originals on disk are left untouched.

How to use Compress Image

Add images — JPEG, PNG and WebP are accepted, up to a hundred at a time.
Choose a quality preset, and set a maximum dimension if the originals are larger than they need to be.
Optionally convert to WebP, which is usually the biggest single saving.
Review the reported savings and download the batch.
