About Extract Attachments
Finds files embedded inside a PDF and extracts them. Lists what is present with names and sizes before you commit, so you can see what a document is carrying.
Extraction is performed in the browser and the recovered files are written straight to your download folder, never through a server.

Electronic invoices in the ZUGFeRD and Factur-X standards are ordinary-looking PDFs with a structured XML invoice embedded inside. Extracting that XML is how the invoice gets into accounting software without anyone retyping it.
Frequently asked questions
- The list is empty — is something wrong?
- No, it means the document has no embedded files. That is the normal case; attachments are a rarely used feature outside electronic invoicing and archival formats.
- What is the XML inside my supplier's invoice?
- Almost certainly a ZUGFeRD or Factur-X record — the same invoice as machine-readable data. Accounting systems read it directly, which removes a manual entry step and the errors that come with it.
- Can extracting be dangerous?
- Treat embedded files with the same caution as any email attachment. Extraction itself only writes the file to your disk and does not open or execute anything.
