About Extract Pages

Pulls a selection of pages out of a PDF into a new document. Unlike splitting, the selection can be arbitrary — pages 2, 7 and 11 into one file — and the order you pick them in is the order they appear.

The pages you did not select are never written anywhere, and the ones you did never leave the browser.

How to use Extract Pages

  1. Load the source PDF.
  2. Click the pages you want in the thumbnail grid, or type a selection like 1,4,9-12.
  3. Check the selection count against what you expected before exporting.
  4. Extract and download the new document.

On a production

Somebody needs one page of the risk assessment, not all fourteen. Sending the whole document invites questions about the other thirteen pages, and sending a screenshot loses the text layer. Extracting the page keeps it a real, searchable document.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from Split?
Split cuts one document into several along contiguous boundaries. Extract builds one new document from a selection that can be scattered anywhere in the original. Different jobs, which is why they are separate tools.
Does the original document change?
No. Extraction reads the source and writes a new file. If you want the pages gone from the original as well, run Delete Pages on it afterwards.
Can I reorder pages while extracting?
Yes — the sequence you select in is the sequence you get. For rearranging a whole document without removing anything, Organize PDF is the better fit.
