About FB2 To PDF

FB2 to PDF converts FictionBook documents, including zipped .fb2.zip archives, into PDF. FictionBook is an XML format that describes a book's semantic structure — sections, epigraphs, verse — rather than its appearance, so conversion involves typesetting it.

FictionBook XML is parsed and typeset in the browser. Files stay on your machine for the whole batch.

How to use FB2 To PDF

  1. Add one or more .fb2 or .fb2.zip files — up to twenty in a batch.
  2. Choose the page size for the typeset output.
  3. Convert. Each file produces its own PDF with its section structure preserved.
  4. Download the results.

On a production

Public-domain source texts circulate widely as FictionBook, particularly outside English-language collections, and few desktop applications open the format. Converting a batch to PDF puts a set of research texts into a form a whole team can read and cite.

Frequently asked questions

Are zipped FictionBook files handled directly?
Yes. The .fb2.zip archive is opened and the document inside is read automatically, so there is no need to extract it first.
What is preserved from the original markup?
Section hierarchy, epigraphs, verse formatting and embedded illustrations are all carried through, because the format marks them semantically rather than visually.
Can several books be converted at once?
Yes, up to twenty per batch, each producing a separate PDF. They are not merged, since combining unrelated books into one document is almost never what is wanted.
