About Form Creator
Form Creator adds fillable fields to a flat PDF: single-line text fields, multi-line text areas and checkboxes. You pick each field's type, name and page; the tool stacks the fields at a fixed size down the left of that page, in the order you add them, so the finished document can be completed on screen rather than printed and written on.
Field definitions are written into the document on your own machine. No copy of the form or its structure is kept elsewhere.
How to use Form Creator
- Open the flat PDF that will become the form.
- Add a field for each answer you need — Text Field, Text Area or Checkbox. Each new field lands below the previous one.
- Give each field a clear name — names are what any downstream export or data extraction uses, so a form full of untitled fields is far less useful.
- Set the page each field belongs on, then create the form and download the form-enabled PDF.
On a production
A crew deal memo gets sent forty times a season and comes back forty different ways — some typed, some scanned, some photographed on a phone at an angle. Turning it into a proper form once means every return arrives as legible, consistent, machine-readable text.
Frequently asked questions
- Why does the field name matter if it is never displayed?
- Because the name is the key when values are exported or read programmatically. A form whose fields are all called untitled produces data nobody can interpret without opening the document.
- Can I turn an existing scanned form into a fillable one?
- Not so the fields line up. Fields are placed in a fixed column, not over the printed boxes, so on a scanned form they sit beside the boxes rather than in them. Reposition them afterwards in a desktop PDF editor if the layout matters.
- Can I choose where each field sits or how big it is?
- No. Every field is 200 points wide — 24 points high, or 60 for a text area — and the fields stack down the left of their page in the order you added them. You choose the page per field; the position follows from that order.
