About Grid Combine

Takes the first page of each of several PDFs and arranges them in a grid on one sheet — a contact sheet of documents rather than of photographs.

Every source document is rendered in your browser to build the sheet; none of them is uploaded.

How to use Grid Combine

  1. Add every PDF you want represented.
  2. Choose the grid — three by three and four by four are the readable ones.
  3. Turn on filename labels if you will need to identify which cell is which.
  4. Generate and download the overview sheet.

On a production

Thirty quotes from suppliers, and you want to see them all at once to compare layout, letterhead and headline figure. A grid of first pages makes the set comparable in a way that opening thirty files never does.

Frequently asked questions

Can I include more than the first page of each document?
No, one page per document by definition — that is what makes it an index. To tile the pages of a single document, use N-Up instead.
Will the text be readable?
Headline text and layout, yes. Body text at nine cells per sheet is not meant to be read — the sheet is for recognising and locating documents, not reading them.
How are the cells ordered?
In the order the files appear in your list, filling left to right then top to bottom. Reorder the list before generating if the sequence matters.
