About MOBI to PDF
MOBI to PDF handles Amazon's older e-book formats (.mobi along with .azw and .azw3) and produces a paginated A4 PDF. Text and pictures are read from the container, and the book's headings become bookmarks.
Extraction and layout run in a web worker on this device, and the book is not sent anywhere; nothing is fetched from another host. The text is set in the app's built-in font, which covers Latin, Greek and Cyrillic script. For Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Arabic and Hebrew text the converter loads a further font the first time a document needs it; characters of other scripts come out blank.
How to use MOBI to PDF
- Add a .mobi, .azw or .azw3 file without copy protection, one per run.
- Click Convert to PDF and wait for the progress bar to finish; you can cancel while it runs.
- Download the PDF; it is named after the file with a .pdf extension.

Frequently asked questions
- Will books bought from a store convert?
- Only if they are free of digital rights management. Purchased titles are usually encrypted to an account and cannot be opened by any external tool, including this one; the tool says so instead of producing a PDF.
- What is the difference between these three extensions?
- They are successive generations of the same lineage: .mobi is the oldest, .azw3 the most capable in terms of formatting. All three go through the same converter. Files that use the older Huffman compression cannot be read; you get a message saying so instead of a PDF.
- Why does the formatting look plainer than on a Kindle?
- Device rendering applies its own typography on top of the file. The conversion sets the text on A4 pages in the app's built-in font and keeps headings, emphasis, lists, tables and pictures, which is often simpler than what the reader displays.
