About Repair PDF
Attempts to recover a damaged PDF by rebuilding its cross-reference table and object structure from whatever is still intact. Documents that fail to open elsewhere will sometimes open after a rebuild.
Recovery happens in your browser, so a document you cannot open is not uploaded to an unknown service to find out what is in it.
How to use Repair PDF

- Attempt the repair.
- Open the result and check every page before trusting it — a repair that opens is not automatically a repair that is complete.

The file that will not open is always the one that matters — the signed contract, the only copy of the schedule. Before asking whoever sent it to send it again, it is worth ten seconds finding out whether it can simply be rebuilt.
Frequently asked questions
- How much can actually be recovered?
- It depends entirely on what is broken. A corrupted cross-reference table with intact content usually recovers fully. Truncated files recover only what was written before the truncation — later pages are simply not there to find.
- The repair failed. What now?
- Go back to the source. A file truncated by an interrupted transfer or a failing disk has genuinely lost data, and no tool can reconstruct bytes that were never written. Re-download or request it again.
- Why do some readers open a file that others reject?
- Tolerance differs. Some readers silently rebuild a broken cross-reference table on the fly; stricter ones refuse. Running the repair produces a file that satisfies both.
