About Scan Document
Scan Document uses the device camera to capture pages, detecting the sheet's edges and correcting the perspective so a photograph taken at an angle comes out square. Multiple pages can be captured in one session and written to a single PDF, optionally with a text layer.
The camera feed is processed frame by frame inside the page and never recorded. Captured images stay on the device throughout.
How to use Scan Document
- Grant camera access and place the document on a contrasting surface — the edge detection needs to see where the paper ends.
- Hold steady until the frame locks onto the sheet. Auto-capture fires once the edges are stable.
- Repeat for further pages; each is added to the current session in order.
- Review, discard any misfires, then export the set as a single PDF.
On a production
Fuel receipts, a signed release and a parking permit all need to reach the production accountant before the end of the week, and none of them will ever see a flatbed scanner. Capturing them on a phone at the unit base, straightened and combined, closes that gap on the day rather than a fortnight later.
Frequently asked questions
- Why is the edge detection failing to find my page?
- Almost always contrast. White paper on a white table gives the detector no boundary to lock onto — moving the sheet onto a dark surface fixes it more reliably than any adjustment in the tool.
- Does perspective correction damage the image?
- It resamples the captured pixels to square the page, so there is some interpolation. Filling more of the frame with the document at capture time leaves more detail to work with and makes the correction less visible.
- Can pages be captured out of order and rearranged?
- Pages are added in capture order, and the review step before export lets you reorder or delete them. It is still quicker to shoot them in sequence than to sort a scrambled set afterwards.
