About Workflow Editor
The Workflow Editor lets you design multi-step PDF pipelines as a diagram: tools become nodes on a canvas, connections set their order, and each design can be saved under a name. Workflows cannot be run from here yet; you still carry out each step with its own tool.
Saved workflows hold names, nodes, connections and their JSON settings only, never documents; the editor does not open files at all. With cloud sync on, exactly that design data is synced to your account.
How to use Workflow Editor
- Start from an empty canvas, or open Templates and pick a ready-made pipeline such as Merge & Compress.
- Drag tools from the sidebar onto the canvas, or click them, to add them as nodes.
- Connect one node's right handle to the next node's left handle to set the order; delete a selected node or connection with Delete or Backspace.
- Select a node, enter its parameters in the JSON Configuration field and click “Save Configuration”.
- Save the design under a clear name with “Save”, and bring it back later with “Load”.
On a production
Every Friday the same job: combine the week's timesheets, stamp page numbers, add a footer and compress the result. Saved as a workflow, the sequence is written down once, so whoever happens to be free works through the same steps in the same order every week.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I run a workflow against a document?
- Not yet. The editor records the steps, their order and their settings but does not execute them. Open each tool in turn; many results can be handed to the next tool with “Continue with this file” without uploading again.
- Where are saved workflows kept?
- In this browser's IndexedDB first. With cloud sync switched on they are synced to your account and appear on your other devices, and they are included in full backups.
- What settings can a step have?
- Each node has a free-form JSON field, for example {"pages": "1-3"} or {"watermarkText": "CONFIDENTIAL"}. The editor only checks that the JSON is valid, not that the tool knows the parameter, so it records the values you intend to use.
